Application Deadline for LL.M. and Certificate Candidates

LL.M. Degree Requirements
The requirements for the LL.M. in International Business Practice, as conferred by Lazarski University, in cooperation with the Center for International Legal Studies, are summarized below:
> Applicants for admission must be admitted to a state bar in the United States and/or hold a Juris Doctor degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association,
and/or have graduated from a recognized law school in a non-United
States jurisdiction, and/or have been admitted to practice in a
non-United States jurisdiction.
> Candidates for the degree must complete 21 credits.
> Candidates for the degree must complete Cycles I and II in Salzburg, Austria, accumulating 6 credits at each Cycle.
> Candidates for the degree must complete Cycle III in Warsaw, Poland, accumulating 6 credits in the final Cycle, for a total of 18 credits.
> Candidates for the degree must complete a further 3 credits during the three years of Cycles I, II, and III or within one year from the completion of Cycle III by
Undertaking a directed research project under the supervision of a member of the faculty of Lazarski University or the University of Salzburg
or
Participating in and certifying 1.5 credits from each of two continuing legal education programs conducted by the Center for International Legal Studies
Each of the three courses offered at each Cycle is required. No elective courses are offered. Each Cycle concludes with examinations graded on an
optional graded or pass/fail basis. In the event that an examination is failed, the candidate may petition to (a) retake the examination, (b) repeat the course or an alternate course at the appropriate Cycle, or (c) gain the required credits by participating in two continuing legal education programs conducted by the Center for International Legal Studies (if the candidate has already utilized, or intends to utilize, continuing legal education credits to complete his or her final 3 credits for the degree, two additional continuing legal education programs will be required to remove the failing grade.
LL.M. with Honors
Candidates who elect to be graded and
achieve a cumulative grade point average of 4.0 (B) over the three Cycles
will graduate with LL.M. with Honors.
LL.M. with High Honors
Candidates who elect to be graded and
achieve a cumulative grade point average of 4.5 (B+) over the three Cycles
will graduate with LL.M. with High Honors.
Concentration
in American Business Law Requirements
To qualify for the LL.M. In International
Business Practice with Concentration in American Business Law, the candidate
must complete one required course dealing with American law in each of the
three Cycles, accumulating a total of nine specialization credits as part of
the 21-credit program. The LL.M. with Concentration in American Business Law
is open to persons admitted to practice and/or those who have graduated in
law from a recognized university in their home jurisdictions. Courses
offered in the Concentration include Introduction to the American Legal
System, American Business Law, and Litigating in the United States.
Certificate Requirements
The requirements for the Certificate in International Business Practice, as conferred by the Center for International Legal Studies, are summarized below:
> Applicants for admission must be admitted to a state bar in the United States and/or hold a Juris Doctor degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
> Candidates for the certificate must complete
6 credits.
> Candidates for the degree must complete Cycles I
and II in Salzburg, Austria, accumulating 6 credits in one of the Cycles.
>
Candidates in good standing in the certificate program may transfer to
the degree program by timely request to the program administrator.
Transfer of Credits
LL.M. credits earned at another qualified
institution may be transferred to the LL.M. in International Business
Practice program, as relevant and at the discretion of the administration. A
maximum of 6 transfer credits may be applied to Cycles I or II and up to 3
transfer credits may be used to satisfy the final 3 credits required
in the LL.M. in International Business Practice program. A transfer fee of
$100 per credit is applicable.
Continuing Legal Education Credits
The Center for International Legal Studies will certify six CLE credits per Cycle without further cost to the participant. The Solicitor's Regulation Authority (SRA) of England and Wales, the Faculty of Advocates of the Scottish Bar, and The Netherlands Bar recognize CILS events for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits; the State Bars of Texas, California, , and New York recognize CILS credits (approved jurisdictions rule). The Bars of several other US states, such as Florida, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Colorado, and Ohio, have granted CILS CLE credits on the basis of individual attorney application. It is the responsibility of the participant to affirmatively request certification, to determine the procedures applicable to his or her state and, where necessary, to make individual application for acceptable of the credits. In general, submission of the CILS certification and program schedule is sufficient for purposes of recognition of credits.
