International Legal Ethics (3 credits) Ethics, access to justice and professionalism, locally and globally, are topics of attention at all levels of the justice community. This course looks directly at those issues. It provides an introduction to norms and values and the ethical issues that lawyers must confront iwhen practicing crossborder, including their responsibilities in relation to the public interest and access to justice. To what extent, for example, is a lawyer obliged to understand the content of foreign law selected by a contract denoting that system of law as the applicable law in a governing law clause? The emergence of the ‘global lawyer’ is exciting but may cloud a lawyer’s fundamental ethical obligations.- Professor John Erlick More about Course 7 Return to Distance Learning Register here for International Legal Ethics
