Degree Requirements
Applicants
for
admission
must
be
admitted
to
a
state
bar
in
the
United
States
and/or
hold
a
Juris
Doctor
degree
from
a
law
school
accredited
by
the
American
Bar
Association,
and/or
have
graduated
from
a
recognized
university
in
a
non-United
States
jurisdiction,
and/or
have
been
admitted
to
practice
in
a
non-United
States
jurisdiction,
and/or
hold
a
recognized
and
relevant
university
degree
in
field
other
than
law
(such
as
business,
accounting,
economics,
and
international
relations).
Candidates
for
the
degree
must
complete
21
credits
through
a
combination
of
two-week
residential
sessions
in
Vienna,
Warsaw,
and/or
Shanghai
and
distance-learning
courses.
The
residential
sessions
offer
6
credits
in
Vienna,
and
three
credits
each
in
Warsaw
and
Shanghai.
Five
distance-learning
courses
(9
credits
in
total)
also
are
available.
Courses
rotate
at
each
residential
session
on a three-year schedule,
Students
also
may
gain
3
credits
by
attending
30
hours
of
continuing
legal
education
sessions
conducted
by
the
Center
for
International
Legal
Studies.
Each
session
in
Vienna,
Shanghai,
and
Warsaw
concludes
with
examinations
evaluated
on
an
optional
graded
or
pass/fail
basis.
If
an
examination
is
failed,
the
candidate
may
petition
to
(a)
retake
the
examination,
(b)
repeat
the
course
or
take
an
alternate
course
at
the
appropriate
session,
or
(c)
gain
the
required
credits
by
participating
in
a
continuing
legal
education
program
conducted
by
the
Center
for
International
Legal
Studies
(if
the
candidate
has
already
utilized,
or
intends
to
utilize,
continuing
legal
education
credits
to
complete
3
credits
for
the
degree,
an
additional
continuing
legal
education
program
will
be
required
to
remove
the
failing
grade).
Candidates
who
elect
to
be
graded
and
achieve
a
cumulative
grade
point
average
of
4.5
(B+)
over
the
required
courses
will
graduate
with
an
LL.M.
with
Honors.
Candidates
who
elect
to
be
graded
and
who
achieve
a
cumulative
grade
point
average
of
4.75
(A-)
over
the
required
courses
will
graduate
with
an
LL.M.
with High Honors.
